Hey VW lovers and Home/Unschool folks! My son, Jett, and I are fixing up a 1973 VW SuperBeetle! I have always wanted to learn to work on an air-cooled VW, so in a FOMO moment, bought us a Herbie!
We have invested in the car itself, which was a steal, but I don't have the tools we need or the skills, yet! Thanks to the supreme encouragement and connection with Faye Hadley of Pixotons & Pixiedust {https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc0508DmRG72ILIkc4Vr8yg} we are hoping to get this beauty up and running soon!
Here's the plan:
• Buy a carport. We don't have a garage, and this car was safely garaged for the last 15 years with relatively little rust. Let's keep it that way!
• Have already purchased a new battery and basic materials needed to get the engine turned over and complete wiring harness. That ran us approx $200.
• Will need ... everything eventually! New tires, interior/upholstry, paint. Stay tuned on specifics as we uncover what it needs, step by step.
We are super excited to get this project started and about the connection we'll make in the process with the community of VW enthusiasts!
