VOSH Haiti Eyecare Mission 2019

Donation protected

A group of 12 second year  Optometry students from the University of Waterloo will be traveling to Cap Hatien, Haiti in July 2019 to run a free eyecare clinic with VOSH.  Over the course of a week, we expect to see 1200-1500 patients, most of which have never had an eye exam before. Patients will receive  donated glasses, medications and/or a surgical referral where necessary. Many of these individuals do not have access to basic eye care (such as eye health exams or glasses) while others are suffering with potentially blinding eye conditions such as glaucoma or cataracts. We feel honoured to be able to use the optometric skills we have in order to help those who otherwise wouldn't have access to eye care.

VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) International is a non profit organization on a mission to bring vision to every person on the planet.  Every year, along with its team of Optometrists and Optometry students, VOSH chapters across North America complete around 80-90 missions and provide free eye care to almost 100,000 children, adults and elderly people around the world. Our goal is to increase our global impact whenever possible by supporting sustainable eye clinics, optometry schools and optometric educators in areas lacking sufficient eye care.

Money raised with this go fund me will go towards the costs of running the clinic and translators, which totals just over $5000CAD.  We would greatly appreciate any contribution you are able to make to our very important mission this summer!
