VOSH - Giving Sight to The Philippines

VOSH is a non-profit organization that provides free eye care to impoverished communities in developing nations. Every year, along with its team of Optometrists and Optometry students, VOSH chapters across North America complete around 80-90 missions and provide free eye care to almost 100,000 children, adults and elderly people.
In May of 2019, the students of VOSH Waterloo, the chapter affiliated with the University of Waterloo School of Optometry, will be participating in a mission to the Philippines. The students will be involved in approximately 7-10 clinic days of free eye exams, where we will also distribute free eyeglasses and diagnose and treat certain eye diseases. We will be referring those who need surgery to in-country surgeons. Each clinic day, the students will see around 200-300 patients for a total of 1500 to 2500 patients.
One of VOSH’s major goals is sustainability. We are staying as far away from "voluntourism" as possible. We hope to provide the nation with the skills and tools necessary to allow them to progress further.
The funds will be used towards treatment services, eye exams, glasses, and antibiotics as required.
To give back to everyone for their contributions, we will be sending personalized postcards from the patients to everyone who donates $15 or more.
