Friends of VONA Campaign

Dear Friends of VONA ,

You are our Facebook community, and we thank you for your support. We’re over 5,000 members strong, and VONA is smarter and better for your input and interaction. VONA’s Facebook page unites literary writers of color, providing safe cyberspace to connect, inform and grow with one another. We provide resources and suggestions that sustain writers of color across genre, time and space.

VONA is growing and strengthening its commitment to writers of color. We need money to continue our work, and we’re asking for your help.

Our goal for our Facebook Friends campaign is “20 in 20”: $20,000 in 20 days. This campaign ends on October 31st, 2016.

When VONA was established in 1999, in San Francisco, we came together at the University of San Francisco with a brick and mortar mindset: 5 teachers and 48 students in 5 workshops.

After last summer’s workshops (our 17th) in Miami we now have 2,300 alumni. VONA has also expanded to host 2 annual regional workshops throughout the country.

VONA started with the idea that literary writers of color needed safe space to create. We’ve provided that, and more: VONA writers have freedom from discrimination and the courage to soar. Please help us to help them.
