Dear friends and family of VMS,
Our kids in Upper Elementary have an amazing opportunity this year—to participate from March 20th to the 23rd in the simulation of the United Nations sponsored by MMUN (Model Montessori United Nations) in…. New York City!
This will be a great experience for our students. They will be assigned a country and a topic to research during the year. At the MMUN, the students will represent their country and its point of view on that topic. This is a hands-on opportunity for our students to practice being peacemakers on a grand scale.
But we need your help.
The trip will average $1,000 dollars per student plus additional expenditures for the group chaperones. Our goal of $15,000 will cover these expenses.
As a small private school, VMS works hard to give children the ability to attend our school even if parents are having financial difficulties and cannot pay all or part of the tuition. This GoFundMe fundraiser is one of the many ways the elementary classroom is raising the funds for the trip.
The MMUN puts what we learn at VMS into practice. It reinforces our vision of establishing in the hearts and minds of our students the need to practice reconciliation and peaceful negotiations when conflict arises. MMUN lets our students build on their classroom experience and deepen their commitment to these principles in their personal lives.
