Created October 29, 2018
We are scheduled to make the first disbursement on 7 May 2019! EBRD community Initiative project will match 1:1 every £ raised on this page! And on our UZS pages in Tashkent!

We are team of professionals from Uzbekistan,  residing in London and working for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).   In October last year we received approval for EUR 50,000 EBRD grant funding to support the Community Initiative Project in Uzbekistan we have first disbursement on 4 of May 2019 and all contributions that we collected via GOFUNDME page  and offline will be matched by the EBRD grant funding.

To implement the project we joined efforts with the leading tech entrepreneurs and selected Khan Academy Uzbekistan (Bilim Online NGO) to be the beneficiary for this grant funding.   All proceeds from the EBRD and GOFUNDME page will be transferred to the bank account of registered NGO "Bilim Onlayn".  Every member of the project team is assigned for either monitoring or control for the use of proceeds.

This project which will introduce online state of the art school curriculum for STEM subjects in Uzbek language and make education accessible for all Uzbek speaking children.  In the long run the accessibility of online education is expected to increase national literacy rate in to international level and allow everyone to learn new skills and contribute to advancement sciences.

Khan Academy STEM subjects will be delivered via private NGO Bilim Onlayn . The project costs around USD 450k, but we hope to raise the first round funding of EUR 50,000 and pave the way towards accessible education.   And through GoFundMe, you can be part of the story!   By donating to the campaign, you, yes, you, will be investing in the future education and by supporting the campaign, will build inclusive culture.

In addition to project implementation team in Tashkent, we have internal audit/accounting team member that will report to us directly on use of proceeds for the project.  EBRD grant funding and gofundme page funding will cover the following expenses for the creation of Khan Academy STEM subjects in Uzbek  language :

Personnel (video and photo https://xanakademiyasi.uz/  editors, translators, text editors, admin and others);
Office maintenance, furnishing and technology.

We also understand that not everyone has the chance and extra finances to donate, so if you want to help there are many other ways!  Implementing Khan Academy  O'zbek required translating 42000 hours of video content! So if you want to get involved, and are confident in your Uzbek language skills, we need you!  Become a translator and see your name on the "wall" as one of the contributors to the project.

Dear Donors and Followers,

We are thrilled to announce that the first half of our fundraising campaign is near the finishing line and we will process our first disbursement on 6 May 2019.
Our colleague Ikbol Hakimov (principal team member on the fundraising campaign) will process the payment for us. He will draw funds from the GOFUNDME page and make transfer to the specially created purpose NGO Bilim Onlyan in Uzbekistan.

In two months we collected funds offline in cash , in Tashkent in UZD on our payment channels and via Uzbekistan friends community in Korea all together approximately EUR 16,200 (subject to Gofundme transaction cost, conversion rate). EBRD Community Initiative Committee will audit bank transfer documents in UK and UZS statements and contribution from the professionals in Korea for this project and then match 1:1 grant payment. This will enable our team in Tashkent to continue development of the localisation in Uzbek language main STEM subjects on Khan Academy.

We hope to see Uzbek language option as soon as we finish translation and production of our first subject Math (early Math, Math, Algebra 1, Algebra2 ) already 1 Half 2019.

The collected funds will be used for translation and production of video and text materials for explanations and testing.
On behalf of our fundraising team

Our first junior fundraiser joins the team!

Diora Juraboeva hopes to raise £1,000 for Khan Academy!

Here is what Diora says:

"My name is Diora Juraboeva and I am 15 years old, and I live in North London and attend a school there. Having been born in Uzbekistan, I understand first-hand the disparity in quality of education between various countries. Seeing the huge difference between the school lessons in Uzbekistan compared to England emotionally impacted me and motivated me to try and make a difference.

Fundraising for Khan Academy Uzbekistan was the perfect way to achieve this. This online and mobile platforms allow students to learn any subject free of charge, and study at their own pace acting like a private tutor that many people cannot afford, and this simultaneously doubles their growth compared to their peers as the research suggests. However, though this online is technically available for anyone to use, it has only been translated into a few other languages. Therefore, I want to raise money for Khan Academy Uzbekistan to be able to employ translators to localise the Khan Academy materials and make it available in Uzbek language. This small action and your kind contribution can have a huge positive impact on millions of pupils, especially girls, in Uzbekistan who could receive world class online free support from an “Uzbek tutor” to reinforce their education."

Help Diyora by donating to Khan Academy Uzbekistan.
