Visceral Roots Dance Company was formed as a result of an incredible collaborative relationship between Ashley Gayle and Noah James. Being company members of the contemporary PUSH Dance Company, we were challenged to create a piece for the annual PushLab 2016. We only had 6 rehearsals to create a piece to debut in PUSHFest 2016 and that is where "Unparalleled" was born. From that success they were selected as the 2017 Black Choreographers Festival’s AMP Artist where they were asked to further develop their piece which created "Unparalleled II", with the mentorship of Gregory Dawson.
It’s very important for our company to stay true to our mission, which is to use our creative voices to make an active difference in the community. During a time when the world is in a political war, we seek to remain close to our community by interpreting and telling stories that best reflect our generations ideals and leads to active change. Our long term goal is to become a (501)c organization, open a studio and tour the nation.
We need your help! So many of you have already offered support and would like to be involved in our development. This campaign is for you! To our friends and family that live in other locations but would like to support our journey, this is for you! After reviewing everything we have planned, we are asking for $2,000 toward making our dream more of a reality.

VRDC is in demand, we already have shows lined up for the summer and are constantly building toward our future. The expenses from our previous engagements came directly out of our personal funds, and we realized very quickly in order to sustain our voices in the community we need help! We are hoping that with your love and support, Visceral Roots can continue to grow and impact the community.
