Violet's Life-Impacting Treatment

Donation protected
Before she was born, Violet suffered a stroke in utero.  While now a vibrant 11 year old, the stroke has impacted Violet’s use of her left side, particularly, her left hand.  She has received Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy since infancy, and has made great strides, but there are still many things she wishes she could do with her hand.

We are excited because Violet has just been given a tremendous opportunity to receive cutting-edge intensive Occupational Therapy at Columbia University this summer, where they are making great strides in increasing the hand function of kids like Violet.  They are offering treatment to only 20 kids this summer, and Violet was chosen!  Furthermore, while this treatment is very expensive, Columbia University is offering it free at this time!

The only setback is that we have to provide our own travel, food, and lodging, and we are finding out NYC is very expensive.  We will need to be there from June 21-July 16, and though we've searched and searched for the most economical options, housing and travel are running over $7,000.

The children that have been in this program have made long-term functional gains with their affected hand.  This is a life-impacting treatment for Violet.  She looks forward to typing better, playing musical instruments, and being able to use her left hand more.  Any support you can give to make this happen is extremely appreciated!
