Help My Brother, Vincent Owens

On June 14th, 2016, my brother, Vincent Owens, his wife Gwen, and their four childrens' lives were changed forever. On what was so close to being a regular day, he found himself in the fight of his life and is now on a long road to recovery.

While riding his motorcycle home from work on a road he's been traveling for 20+ years, he was hit by a distracted driver, causing him to lose his left leg and almost his life.

He was brave enough to let me interview him about the incident. What's most impressive is his positive attitude despite this happening a month before I recorded this. You can hear the full story in his words here

After visiting him in New York (I live in California), I have to say I'm so proud of him for his courage and tenacity during a time that many others would've folded. He has maintained a positive attitude (as you'll hear above) that inspired me to not only change my approach to life, but to leverage as many platforms as I can to help him and his family during an incredibly difficult time.

Vincent's health insurance and the driver's car insurance will reduce his total medical bill, but certainly won't cover it all. He's endured multiple surgeries, weeks in the hospital with limited mobility, setbacks (infection), and now has months of rehabilitation ahead of him. And even when he's back to "normal," he won't be able to do the job he's been doing for as long as I can remember (15+ years).

While his life has changed forever, the influx of bills and expenses has not. In fact, it's going to get worse.

In September, he'll have to enroll in COBRA, which means he'll be paying the full price of a family medical plan on reduced income. He and Gwen must also still pay their mortgage and all the other bills that were coming in prior to the accident. As you can imagine, all this combined with an onslaught of medical bills is mentally, emotionally, and physically devastating.

I don't want my brother and his family to struggle because of a distracted motorist. So I'm doing my part and asking you to help me help him.

I'd love to exceed the $10K goal. The more he and his family receive, the more they can focus on each other and his recovery. A permanent change in life quality is more than enough to shoulder.

Anything you can contribute will be helpful. Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to me and it'll mean the universe to him.
