On November 12, 2018, our devoted father, and beloved friend, Vince, was feeling horrible and asked for medical help. Instead of receiving medical attention, he was left for hours, and lost consciousness.

Starting on November 13, 2018 we stopped hearing from our dad. Our father is in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons for committing insurance fraud, he is a non-violent offender. We started calling the prison immediately to find out what was going on. We were sent to voicemail after voicemail. No answer, and no returned calls, and no information on his status or condition. We called daily. The prison waited three weeks to notify us of our dad’s condition.

On December 10, 2018, after nearly a month of trying to find out about our loved one, we received a call saying he had a brain hemorrhage, had undergone brain surgery, is now paralyzed on the right side of his body, and unable to speak. Additionally, they determined, he has Stage 3 Brain Cancer, and only has 6 months, to one year to live.

Our dad has suffered an unimaginable amount trauma. He was denied medical attention when he requested it, was life flighted, went through brain surgery, and woke up alone to the new reality of being paralyzed, unable to speak, with a terminal illness, handcuffed to a hospital bed.  The Federal Bureau of Prisons made all major medical decisions on his behalf, without informing, or including us.

They are not allowing us, or anyone, to have regular visits, so that he can be surrounded by loved ones in his most desperate time of need. Instead they are giving us the runaround, not delivering his letters, or allowing him to receive phone calls, so he can hear our voice of hope and support. They are denying him basic human rights, and important medical treatments, as he agonizes alone in critical condition.

As his family, we are seeking financial help to get legal representation to bring our dad home through Compassionate Release, the medical care and treatment he deserves, to begin rehabilitation from his brain surgery, and get cancer treatment.

Through all of this we hope to advocate against the medical negligence, and inhumane treatment of inmates that our dad has suffered from. None of this was a part of our dads “sentence.”

He is incredibly coherent for his condition, and has witnessed everything that has happened to him. He nods yes, and no. He holds our hand, and squeezes our hand. He tries to laugh when we remind him of funny memories. They have only allowed us to see him for a total of 6 hours through this ordeal that started November 12, 2018.

He can not speak on his own behalf, he needs an advocate.

Please help us be Vince’s Voice.

We are deeply grateful for any and all donations!
