Village Eye Testing in Bali and ...

Donation protected

Nyoman works at Umalas Retreat where he has been in our security team for about two and a half years.

He is blind in one eye because of an operable cataract.

Nyoman has received a quote to get the operation which came in at 30 million Indonesian Rupiah (approx AUD $3000) - about ten times his normal monthly salary.

Like many Balinese, Nyoman does not have a high level of Health Cover, therefore, this operation would be a massive undertaking for Nyoman and his family.

The John Fawcett Foundation offer a Testing, Medication and Operation Service in Bali and beyond. It’s called “ADOPT A VILLAGE MOBILE EYE CLINIC”.

If you click on the link you’ll see that a Clinic costs $2500 (or $2700 if accommodation is also required).

I’d like to raise funds for the holding of at least one Clinic where Nyoman, and many others, can be helped.

I have already raised AUD $380 from fundraising

conducted in Bali. (A special thank you to Matt and Nikki of “The James Cook Sports Bar” in Kerobokan, Bali for letting me harass their customers in this endeavour. http://www.jamescooksportsbar.com )

It’s my way of giving something back to the people of Bali who give me such enjoyment. It can’t get much better than the gift of sight.
