PLEASE NOTE: The amount raised is for an ongoing campaign that started in fall of 2017, so the amount listed is not actually what we have in the account.

Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue is a rescue shelter and farm sanctuary in Hoi An, Vietnam that focuses on sheltering rescued animals, adoption, mass sterilization, and vegan animal rights education for school children as we work to end the exploitation of all species of animals.

The shelter rent was due for the next three months is due 1 June and we need to pay on time.

Donations and income have been drastically reduced since we had to close the vet clinic last year and we are living day-to-day with small donations for food for the animals.

The 39 dogs, cats, pigs, and chickens in our care are in need of food, shelter, and medical expenses and our staff must also get their salaries as they have no other income and this is their full time work.

Please help us take care of these deserving rescues as we work to get the shelter moved to Hanoi in 2018 where they can finally have access to good quality veterinary care, sustainable income, and much easier volunteer and staff recruitment.

After seeing off our two dogs to Canada, we must remember those who all still need homes!

The next 6 months (at least!) will be dedicated to getting good homes for our rescues and getting them out of Hoi An and our shelter there which we must close. Without proper vet care in our region, there are no other options. There is no such thing as responsible rescue without the vital guidance and support of experienced and skilled vets with good equipment and understanding of modern veterinary medicine. This is why we are closing, aside from the lack of sustainable funding. We tried to change it and it was not a project anyone wanted to fund, so not our animals are in constant danger without our experienced international vets.

Please donate today to help us get these rescues to safety and new lives in areas where every little medical issues is life threatening. We have a long year ahead of us for relocation, but with your support, we can get the homes for these rescues that they deserve!

We are only $200 from our goal to get Maggie and Ballerina out of Vietnam to their new homes in Vancouver! We have had an amazing outpouring of support for their journey and we are so grateful for all our supporters who have gotten us so close to our goal!

The export so far has been quite difficult and expensive and we are working on alternatives for our other exports to bypass Saigon altogether as a result of the situation there. Nothing is impossible in Vietnam, but everything is difficult and time consuming and usually involves changing plans multiple times before a solution happens.

As we get these girls to their new life after so many years stuck in our shelter waiting for their new families, we also have 25 more animals at the shelter who still need care! Please do not forget about them! They still need food and we are already in debt now for that, plus our January salaries for the hard working staff in Hoi An.

Our American nonprofit lawyer is in need of being paid for the firm's work on our application process last year, and we still need to pay our Tet New Year bonus next month plus our tax preparation in February for Vietnam. Operating a legal entity in any country requires a bit of administrative costs that do bump up overhead costs, but operating illegally is not at all an option with the safety of our animals at stake. We follow the rules of the country we operate in and we are seeking 501(c)(3) status in the US for our donors to benefit from tax-deductible donations and full accounting transparency. This is not free unfortunately, but it is a vital aspect to working ethically and within legal constraints.

Please donate today to help our rescues stay healthy and get ready for their adoptions this year as we are forced to close our shelter. Thanks for all your support!

Great news for Maggie and Ballerina! Canada is calling them home!

We got a flight volunteer leaving for Vancouver from Saigon on Friday!!!! We are so excited for them to see just how good life can be as they learn to live in the beautiful Canadian wild! Just wait until these Vietnamese dogs see snow for the first time.... It is going to be a very crazy weekend.

Now we need to raise the funds to get them there. I have outlined the costs for the export below, of which there are many. The total we need to raise VERY quickly is $1654.58! Friday is so soon! This is not only for them, but for the cost of the two dogs we sent 1 November to Canada who still have a BIG unpaid vet clinic bill for their boarding and export at Saigon Pet Clinic. They have been so good to us for so many years and we need to pay this bill to be able to do the second export.

We were not able to raise the funds this fall to cover the cost of the other 2 dogs' export but the clinic was kind enough to let them go on anyway and wait for the money to arrive. As time went on we got deeper and deeper into debt and then our bank account was hacked and the last thing on my mind while our animals could not food was a vet clinic bill. Now we need to cover all of that before they fly! Please help us get those babies out of the country.

As we close, we are working so hard to get our rescues to safe homes either in Hanoi or Saigon or abroad where they can access good vet care. These 2 final dogs going to Canada are the last headed to North America, the others getting ready to head to Europe. We are getting so close to being able to shut down the shelter as we lack the funds to care for these animals.

Here are the costs:
Maggie and Ballerina export

2 for 1.8 mil VND each (3.6 mil VND), transporting crates to Hoi An= 500,000 VND
Vet certificate
Ground transport from shelter to airport
1.5 mil VND each, plus human transport return 2.5 mil VND =5.5 mil VND
Ground transport to clinic boarding in Saigon
TOTAL to get to Saigon:
10,850,000 VND = $625 CAD/$467 USD
($549 paid already from the adoption fees from Canadian organization, Loved at Last)

Saigon clinic to the flights

Vet certificate for export
3.590,000 VND x 2= 7,180,000
220,000/day per dog x2 dogs x 2 days=880,000 vnd
65,000/day x 2 days x 2 dogs= 260,000 VND
Car from clinic to airport
Assistance for check-in
$280/ dog x 2 dogs= $560
10,820,000 + $560= 1026.71
+ last unpaid clinic invoice for the 2 other Canadian exports= $627.87

$627.87 + $1026.71=
$1654.58 TOTAL

Please help us get these guys to their new homes!

Thank you so much!

We are grateful to have ended 2018 without debt thanks to so many generous donors helping out at the last minute before we were kicked out of our shelter, but we still have to keep up the shelter and feed the animals.

January has historically been the worst month for us for donations every single year because people seem to get their credit card statements from the holidays and freeze everything immediately. Please keep us in mind as organizations like ours rely on CONSISTENT funding to stay out of crisis and to keep doing our work.

We have 2 dogs adopted this week who we are working on getting to their homes abroad, and we are continuing to work on getting our kitties to their new families, but this cannot be done without the help of monthly donors who keep us running. We have paid up for all of 2018, but are unable to pay for anything in January so far and without help, this will not change. Please consider making a monthly contribution to help us get out of the shelter in Hoi An, adopt our all our rescues who need homes and get them to a safe place where they can access veterinary care.

Thanks so much for all your help!
