Honor the memory of Brad Melvin

Donation protected
Please help us honor the memory of Staff Sergeant Bradley Scott Melvin! All of the money raised here will be donated in Brad’s honor to support Purdue University’s 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemorative Luncheon . If we can raise $3,000 or more, “In Memory of Staff Sergeant Brad Melvin” will be listed as an event sponsor at the highest tier, the "Battalion" level. As a “Battalion” sponsor, “In Memory of Staff Sergeant Brad Melvin” will be prominently listed in the event program and on a banner at the front of the room.

ABOUT THE EVENT:
The 50th Anniversary Vietnam War Commemorative Luncheon is being put on by volunteers at Purdue University, including Brad’s sister, Melissa Widhalm. Purdue University is looking to honor the many Vietnam War soldiers who returned home five decades ago without fanfare or support. This event, which is expected to draw up to 375 people, will give the greater Lafayette area community the opportunity to acknowledge Vietnam veterans and show them and their families appreciation for their service and sacrifice.

ABOUT BRADLEY MELVIN:
Brad joined the United States military at age 17 (spending his 18th birthday in boot camp!), and he remained in service to our country until his untimely passing in 2013. He was just 34 years old, leaving behind his wife and three young daughters. His military career included service in both the U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S. Army. He served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, with overseas deployments to Germany and Kuwait. (Read more about Brad  in this story from the Purdue Veterans Success Center)

Brad had tremendous respect for those who served before him. I know he would support this Vietnam veterans event if he were still here today. By combining our individual support and donating it on Brad's behalf, we will both honor Brad's memory and our Vietnam veterans.

(Please note that if you would like your donation to be tax deductible, you can donate as an individual directly to Purdue University at http://giving.purdue.edu/Vietnam50 .)
