Cancer sucks. Victory for Val!!

Hey you guys! I want to introduce you to my best friend, Valerie Kirk. I met her when she came to work at Grand Chevrolet. A year later, she had her son, Lane. She decided to be a stay at home mom and kept my two kids while I worked. She divorced a couple of years after that. She will be 41 this November. She is an amazing woman! Let me tell you why!
When she was 27, she had a pacemaker installed, very unusual for someone so young. She made it through that, got remarried and had two more kids, both girls. This past July, she found a lump on her right breast. She went in for a mammogram and ultrasound. While she was there, they found a spot on her left breast that they wanted biopsied. The end of July, she had the biopsy done. The results: CANCER.
She found a doctor that specializes in breast cancers. The day after her diagnosis, she went to see this doctor, located in Sedona, Arizona – 3 hours from her home in Page, Arizona. After a 3 hour appointment with her (the doctor), she ordered another biopsy, more imaging and ultrasounds. She then had appointments with a radiation oncologist and a plastic surgeon. Once those appointments were done, she had a major decision to make about her cancer treatment. Weighing all of the options, which included lumpectomy, she decided the best option for her was to do a full mastectomy with reconstruction. A lumpectomy was not a good option due to her pacemaker.
Lonny, Valerie’s husband, is very supportive of Valerie and is her rock to lean on. He works as a boiler maker and is out of town with work frequently though. On his current trip, he was involved in a car accident and his truck was totaled. That, on top of the medical bills coming in, is stressing them financially. Every appointment she has is at least 3 hours from her home, causing yet another expense. Her friends and coworkers have been very supportive.
Valerie will be having her full mastectomy on October 9th, 2018. She will then have weekly follow-ups and another surgery to reconstruct before the end of the year. She will be off work for three weeks after her surgery, then again for her appointments and finally for her reconstructive surgery.
If you would like to help her (she would never ask for herself), please donate!! Thank you so much for your support!!!!
