VICTORY for COLIN

Donation protected

Colin Mathews, a sophomore at Rocky Mountain High School, was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Chemotherapy started the night they received the diagnosis and will continue for three and a half years. It will be a long road and he and his family need your support.

Colin's world has been turned upside down overnight- After 7 days of fever and fatigue he was diagnosed with strep, but didn't respond to the antibiotic.  He had swelling and pain in his abdomen as well as loss of appetite.  The blood tests and ultrasound revealed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  His white blood cell counts were critically high and he required immediate treatment.  They began treating him at midnight the first night he was admitted to the hospital.  He will undergo approximately 8 months of treatment during the intial phases of treatment, followed by another 3 years of maintenance treatment.  At this point, doctors are prescribing chemotherapy both through infusion and directly into his spine.  His overall course of treatment will be updated as he progresses.  He will be hospitalized multiple times throughout this year.

Colin’s request was for his brothers to be here with him. His younger brother is at home but his two older brothers are away at school. They were able to get home quickly but will need to go back and forth to Indiana and Moscow, Idaho to complete school and help the family during this time.

Please join us in praying for Colin’s healing, for his body to breakdown the drugs and leukemia cells and flush them out of his body, for his organs to be protected, for his mind and heart to continue to be filled with God’s peace, and pray as God leads for each member of the family.

Colin loves to play baseball. He is on two different teams, the Avalanche in the summer and Rocky Mountain High School during the school year. Rocky Mountain just won District last week (Go Grizzlies!) but Colin was unable to attend.

Today- Monday May 6th is Colins 16th birthday, please send him birthday love and messages!

If you are able to help financially, it would be a blessing to be able to get his brothers home often, to help with medical costs, and to cover other needs that will arise.

Letters of encouragement for Colin and his family can be sent to Mrs. Mathews’ work place at:
