Vickys Hip FHO Surgery

Please help us continue to save and treat dogs like Vicky! Vet bills in the photo sections! She had FHO surgery, multiple xrays, bloodwork, deep wound lacerations that needed flushing and stitches, had a bruised lung and lastly a dislocated back hip that needed Orthopedic surgery today! Shes had multiple injections, antibiotic injections along with oral meds. She was lucky not to have broken bones but her surgery and treatment along with meds was costly and we could use any help to cover these costs! Sweet Vicky is shown below as she was getting out of surgery tonight. Vicky was adopted on Sunday from a shelter event offsite at a local brewery and shortly after that she jumped a fence in her new back yard while on a potty break. She ran her heart out in Santa Clarita for several hours making her way back to the only area she knew, the adoption event area. She avoided every attempt to catch her and our team worked hard to keep her safe while she ran through streets and intersections off Newhall Ranch Road, but she eventually disappeared into the Santa Clarita Wash area. To everyones worry she arose Monday morning and began her run again, but this time luck would not be on her side and she got hit by a car. She got up and ran, limping but still able to run fast, again taking up refuge in the large Santa Clarita wash area. With thick brush and trees she managed to stay hiding. Attempts to search for her that day on foot were difficult due to the terrain, and also with the challenge of trying not to scare her out if she was in there. Had she bolted farther away? Was she hunkered down in the vast brush? Many tried to find her unsuccessfully. Trap was set in hopes she would be hungry but she stayed out of sight overnight. The next morning a push to locate her with a few amazing local people offering to volunteer their time and drone equipment. After being briefed on what to do and where to look, she was finally spotted from high above. She was limping and making her way to a watering hole. While all of this was happening, coyotes were also being spotted in the area. A warning signal from someone on the ground spooked Vicky and she managed to run out of the wash and into streets. She again managed to hide from those searching but only for a little while. She managed to make her way back over to the brewery, employees noticed her and called our team who were close by still searching. They got there fast and worked with employees to calmly secure and leash her. Her pain level probably elevating and finally making her give up, knowing she needed our help. She was rushed to a local vet by our team as we could see she needed treatment right away. While this was happening her new owners realized that she may not be a good fit for them and owner surrendered her over to Jordan, who we had been working closely with us the whole time. Jordan would be Vickys new angel, as she was going to make sure this girl stayed safe going forward. Her other angel Megan, who also had been helping with her search, offered to temp foster her for a few days. Our vet visit told us Vicky had a dislocated back hip. A brusied lung and some deep lacerations. No broken bones but FHO surgery would be needed. So we made sure that she would be taken care of and got her in for surgery today. We expect her to have a wonderful recovery, but she will need a new forever home. She has shown to be a sweetheart, and gives sweet kisses. So stay tuned for updates!!!
