New Liver = New Life
As some of you may know, my mother, Vicky Sue Burgess, has been suffering from Non Alcoholic Stateo Hepatitis (NASH) from high cholesterol medications, also know as statins. This has caused her liver to not function properly for several years now, along with Type II Diabetes. Over the past couple of years the liver disease has progressed to Cirrohisis of the Liver and we recently learned that it is now Stage 4, which means she is in need of a liver transplant. As I am sure many of you can imagine, there will be alot of cost associated with my moms care. We will be traveling to Duke Hospital in Durham, NC to meet with the specialists on March 20, 2015. After this visit I will be able to update everyone to what the next steps will be.
It is my hopes that I can raise enough money to pay for the out of pocket expenses and relieve stress from my mom and dad during this trying time in our lives. Any help you can provide is much appreciated.
Please also keep my family in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this battle.
Vicki Jo Burgess
Her funeral services have been arranged and we will be celebrating her life on Friday at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden, NC.
We thank everyone for their support as the donations have helped with some of the medical expenses. We will continue to use the remaining funds to pay what we can toward the remaining medical bills and funeral services.
Thank you again for all the prayers and support.
My hope is that a new liver will be available by the end of the year. My mom is a phenomenal woman. She amazes me with her drive and strength to keep going even when she hasn't slept in 72 hrs or is in so much pain she can't get comfortable, or it makes her nauseous. She is a fighter, always has been, always will be. I am proud to be her daughter and to learn from her. I am thankful she is mine.
Please continue to keep my mom and family in your thoughts and prayers. #NEWLIVERTODAY is our new motto my Aunt Gina came up with.
This has been the most difficult time for our family. My dad has not worked in over two weeks as he has remained by my mom's side the entire time. I would like to continue to raise money to help with my mom's expenses and to try to alleviate stress from my parents. Any help given is deeply appreciated.
She sees Dr. Berg at Duke on Thursday, Oct 22. We hope she gets moved up on the transplant list. She is currently #11 and until she gets a new liver she will not get any better.
Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Mom goes to Duke Hospital on Oct 22. We hope at that time she will be moved up on the transplant list.
My sister, Liz, has also been readmitted to the hospital with complications from the blood clots and infection. It has been a very stressful time for our family. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
