Hello!
I'm Mahmoud Qandeel and I'm 29 years old. I live in the Gaza Strip. Ever since, I have lived under the Israeli occupation.
I experienced many bloody events, beginning with the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, when I was a child. I'm alive because death (still) hasn't chosen me.
I am now very tired and scared. My parents' house was damaged. We spent the rest of the war in UNRWA schools. For this reason I come to you and open my heart. And I'll tell you what I've been hidding inside it. If I had been employed here and had a source of income, I would have tried to get out of this hell by myself.
I urgently need to get this trip to save me from the tragedy we live in.
In 2012, I got a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a good grade, but in the same year we were exposed to another war.
The living conditions worsened. As the war was over, I looked for work, but found no opportunities and became unemployed. I volunteered at the Red Cross. Our situation deteriorates every day.
The violence against my people is inhuman.
The trip I have outlined is from Gaza - Dubai - Portugal. Concerning other possibilities, there is the advantage of being able to obtain the visa, and in Dubai, I have a friend from childhood (emigrated), who welcomes me during the necessary procedures to obtain the visa for the trip to Portugal. The costs are: Tourist visa for Dubai - US 700, Ticket - US 400 (approx.), Ticket for the exit of Gaza - US 300. I predict that from Dubai to Portugal, I'll be needing more or less the same value.
The gathering of donations will have to be made by my host in Portugal, since GoFundMe does not operate in Palestine. Then, the sum will be sent to me via Western Union.
Getting this trip is my ransom for a rebirth in peace and the fulfillment of my dreams. I will be eternally glad to know that my freedom was due to a collective goodwill. Every day is a wall which I jump, so my hope is not brought down.

Sou o Mahmoud Qandeel, tenho 29 anos. Moro na Faixa de Gaza. Vivo até então sob a ocupação israelita. Vivenciei muitos eventos sangrentos começando com a Intifada de Al-Aqsa em 2000, quando ainda era criança. Estou vivo porque a morte (ainda) não me escolheu. Preciso urgentemente de conseguir esta viagem para me salvar da tragédia em que vivemos.
Estou agora muito cansado e com medo. A casa dos meus pais foi danificada. Passamos o resto da guerra nas escolas da UNRWA. Por esta razão venho abrir-vos o meu coração. E contar-vos-ei o que nele se esconde. Se eu tivesse emprego e fonte de rendimento aqui, teria tentado sair sozinho deste inferno.
Em 2012 consegui obter o diploma de bacharel do Ensino Básico com uma boa nota, mas no mesmo ano fomos expostos a outra guerra. As condições de vida agravaram-se. A guerra acabou, procurei trabalho, mas não encontrei nenhuma oportunidade e fiquei desempregado. Fiz voluntariado na Cruz Vermelha. A situação degrada-se a cada dia. A violência sobre o meu povo é inumana.
A viagem que tenho delineada é de Gaza - Dubai - Portugal. Em relação às outras possibilidades, tem vantagem na obtenção do visto e no Dubai, tenho um amigo de infância (emigrado), que me acolhe durante os procedimentos necessários para a obtenção do visto para poder viajar para Portugal.
Os custos são: Visto turístico para o Dubai - US 700, Bilhete - US 400 (aprox.), Bilhete para a saída de Gaza - US 300. Prevejo que do Dubai para Portugal, seja necessário mais ou menos o mesmo valor.
A recolha dos donativos terá que ser feita pela minha anfitriã em Portugal, pois o GoFundMe não opera na Palestina. Posteriormente ser-me-á enviado via Western Union.
Conseguir esta viagem é conseguir o meu resgate para um renascimento em paz e a realização dos meus sonhos.
Ficarei eternamente feliz em saber que a minha liberdade se deveu à boa vontade colectiva.
