We are in need of a Utility/Brush Truck to effectively fight field and brush fires. This can also be used to deploy our rescue boat during flood conditions.
We currently do not have the means to effectively fight field and brush fires. We typically rely on neighboring agencies for assistance but that can add 20-30 minutes in response time.
Montrose Fire Protection District approached us with a perfect fit for our needs. It's a 1993 Chevrolet 3500 4x4. It comes fully equipped and would be a turnkey fit for our needs.
The Villa Grove Fire Department is responsible for the 1.5 square miles inside the city limits, approximately 100 rural addresses, and approximately 15 square miles of woods and farmland. We also mutual aid with other agencies in Douglas and Champaign Counties.
Our current fleet consists of 1999 and 1986 pumpers, a 2008 tender, and an 18 foot rescue boat.
