Bring Roger Home

Please help make an old home fit the needs of a new challenge of a wheelchair!

This campaign is to help my aunt and uncle, Louise and Roger Nilles, who need to make changes to the first floor of their house for use of Roger’s wheelchair. Roger recently returned home after a painful decrease of circulation of blood to his left leg required surgery and loss of that leg above the knee. Roger and Louise have a long history of working together to overcome many debilitating and sometimes life threatening conditions involving Roger’s lungs, heart, and nervous system. Throughout it all, Louise works full-time and has been able to respond to the many interventions requiring visits to doctors, stays in hospital and care centers. Since Roger’s recent surgery requires the use of a wheelchair, there is this new problem to face: Roger has no access to the only bathroom/ bedroom which is upstairs. The stairs are too small to do a wheelchair lift, so they have an immediate need to put a bedroom/bathroom downstairs. They now manage this new challenge day by day, but it would be a great help have their home modified so that they could go back to living as normal a life as possible. The estimated cost of this remodel (includes a ramp from street to front door) ranges between $10,000 and $15,000, depending on contractor’s willingness to contribute to this cause as well. Any help you could give would show loving support for this wonderful couple who give so much love and support to each other, as well as many other people in their immediate community.
