Vets that Craft a Beautiful World

Donation protected
We are raising money to shoot a documentary film that combines two seemingly disparate subjects: veterans and woodworking . Countless warriors have returned home from war feeling empty, disallusioned, and broken. This is about telling the story of those heroes who battle the side effects of PTSD, depression, and/or anxiety by focusing their efforts on creating beautiful, useful things.

The Support from the Woodworking world thus far has been incredible. Here's the lineup of film participants (no particular order, and still growing!):

Mark Harrell of Bad Axe Tool Works
Tom Fidgen of The Unplugged Workshop
Vic Tesolin of Veritas Tools
David Marks of the David Marks School
Will Neptune, Master Carver
Curtis Buchanan, Master Windsor Chair Maker
Scott Meek, Plane Maker
Mary May, Master Carver
William Ng of the William Ng Woodworking School
The Sam Maloof Workshop
The North Bennet Street School
Phil Lowe's Furniture Institute of Massachusetts
plus others!

This project will not be inexpensive. While there is no shortage of testimonials to record, they are spread quite literally from coast to coast.

The film is part of my final project for a graduate degree at American University's School of Communications. Filming will take place in California, Massachusetts, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Missouri, and many places in between. I spent every spare dime I had acquiring the equipment and learning to use it, but need help to afford travel and post-production expenses to complete this project.

In the end, I hope this film will inspire those veterans across the country who feel hopeless and alone to join us in making the world a more beautiful place.

Any funds that are raised beyond the cost of production will be used to start a 501c3 organization providing scholarships for disabled vets to attend woodworking schools, online instruction videos from some of the world's expert woodworkers, and a tool donation and discount program to help ease the cost of entry into this craft.

Thank you so much for your help, and please remember the costs that have been paid by our fallen brothers and sisters in arms. Their sacrifices were far greater than anything we could confront.

Respectfully,
