Recover my life

I was a very successful teacher of gifted children for 36 years. I retired from the classroom in 1997. I began my career at age 17, something unheard of today. After retirement, I continued to educate teachers on how to integrate technology into the curriculum. Then in 2004 at age 61 my longtime partner of 20 years died from a stroke and at the same time I was diagnosed as HIV possitive. The medications to keep me alive cost over $1400 a month. I had Extended Medical Insurance but it covered a maximum of $750 a year. Subsidy from government sources was not available to me because I had a substantial pension. For 4.5 years I had to use my well established credit to purchase my medications. At age 65 here in Canada the drugs that have kept me alive became "free" because I was then a senior citizen. BUT I had a $65,000 debt. I vowed to repay it and went to credit counselling to do it. I struggled each month to meet living expenses and repay the debt. By 2008 I decided to obtain a part time job to suppliment my income. I was offered a full time job and earned twice customer service awards for my work. Finally, in 2012 I gave up my lifetime joy, my cottage, to pay off the whole debt which I did. Now, 2015, Taxation Canada has assessed my income over the years and is demanding a return of $91,000 because they were paying me Old Age  Security to which I was not entitled because my income exceeded the Canadian maximum allowable  to receive the OAS. That amount includes interest and penalties. I have signed through a Bankruptcy Trustee a Consumer Proposal to repay $51,000 over the next five years. That is $850 a month. It leaves me after shelter and utilities an income of about $600 a month for food,  gas, pet food and repairs to my aging house.

How would you survive if you were 61 and found you had to pay out $1400 a month to stay alive? I did it but now at age 74 I have nothing after a remarkable life of educating people both in schools and in retail situations.

I am asking for  nothing more than support to have a life that I thought would be mine after devotion to enriching the lives of others.
