Vermont Runs for Women - 2019 Marathon Relay Team
Last year, thanks to the many friends of Vermont Works for Women, we raised over $2,300 in support of our Marathon Relay Team. Now we’re back, ready to break our 1-year record of 4:10:20, and raise even more! It’ll be a piece of cake compared to the journeys of many of the women we serve, who experience multiple barriers to employment such as histories of trauma, incarceration, domestic violence, and substance abuse. These are women of strength and resilience who come to VWW to hone their work readiness skills so they can attain fulfilling, well-paying careers. Through trauma-informed career exploration, work readiness training, job placement and retention support, and assistance with the roadblocks of everyday life, they are empowered to move forward in work and in life.
Your donation will also help sustain programs such as our Rosie’s Girls summer camps for middle-schoolers; Trailblazers pre-apprenticeship construction trades training for women; electrical trades and work readiness programs at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility, career workshops, and much more. As a small but mighty staff of 14, we’re on the run all day – and we can’t wait to bust out of the office and onto the streets of Burlington!
