Vermont Fatbike Trail Groomer

So grooming has begun at Mud Pond in Williston and Mobbs in Jericho. We also git the OK to groom trails at Shelburne Sugarworks on Shelburne Falls Road as well.  This is mixed network of singletrack, doubletrack and open meadow riding. It’s very scenic and a perfect spot for entry-level riders and families but may need some summer trail work to better set up the network for grooming. It’s the perfect place to take family or friends in the Spring and Fall when they’re serving homemade maple creemees that are fantastic!  We’re working on opening two other networks currently and will update as soon as we have more info.

I’ve gotten very positive feedback from a variety of users on the grooming happening at Mud Pond and not just from bikers. Riding groomed trails is a completely different experience and that keeps the trails rideable no matter the weather does and opens up the activity to riders of all skill levels.  I update the Facebook page each time our volunteers groom.

If you’re just joining us we ran a successful campaign to raise funds to buy a Snowdog Tracksled and have begun grooming trails for all to enjoy.  As often seems to happen  the budget was exceeded and the I’ve covered the overage for now which is about $1300.00.  Those costs came out of the grooming sled that was built for the task and some modifications that were done to make the machine safer and more easy to manage.

So if you’re new to the group or were  consideting donating but hadn’t gotten around to it please think about contributing. I ask every donor what networks they would like to open up for winter riding and then work towards opening up that terrain if possible. Thanks to all who have already contributed and helped make this a success.  We’re nudging up on 700 members in Vermont Fatbike and we managed to reach that initial goal with just 53 donors. Hoping there are some more folks willing to contribute.  Thanks all.  Please feel free to ask any questions you like.

Just to make it clear. This fund manages the machine working Mobbs and Mud Pond to date. We’re still working on expanding to other riding areas. Originally there was conversation around sharing a machine between Richmond and Brewster River but those groups ended up funding their own machines. At that point Mark was already grooming Saxon with his machine well ahead of the rest of us.
