Venezuelan Exodus,Helping my family

Venezuela has come to a point where people can barely live in the country. Just to give you guys some context....

1) "The UNHCR says 5,000 migrants are leaving every day: at that rate, 1.8 million people, more than 5 per cent of Venezuela’s population, will depart this year." Ref: Publication on the Irish Times (link below)

2) It is estimated that inflation has risen by over 10,000% to date with prices going up almost every week (the price of half a dozen eggs is equivalent to 60% of the minimum monthly salary of a person), there is a huge shortage of food, and public and private services (Schools, Hospitals, Clinics, Public Transport, etc) are collapsing.

This is simply not sustainable.

It was 7 years ago when I first touched Irish soil with the only expectation of learning English. What was a simple 8 month English Language course has become almost a decade of living, studying and working on this beautiful island, however, I would never have imagined that my country would collapse in such a way that my entire family would see emigration as an option.

I have been working on my family's immigration process and arranging everything for the rest of my family (brother, his wife and their child).
In February 2018 my mother and step-father made the decision to leave Venezuela and move to Spain. This took myself more than two years of planning, working like never before, saving and working on the mindset of my 63 year old parents who were terrified of the idea of emigrating. Knowing that they will not be able to receive their pensions anymore, they will have to start working again, they will have to start paying rent, they will have to adapt to a new culture - in other words, create a new life.

Although it has been one of the most challenging and scariest processes I have ever encountered in my life I can say that having them closer after so many years is a dream come true!

My brother has now reached a point where he needs to leave with his wife and daughter to ensure their safety and well-being, however with the rapidly declining situation time is of the essence and I need to get things in motion as soon as possible.  As I am the only person my family  can count on for their migration, it has become quite an uphill struggle to face this second part of the plan while keeping my own life together in Ireland.

The savings they were counting on to leave the country with unfortunately  are worth nothing when exchanged into euros as the only access we have to foreign currency is through the black market where prices fluctuate rapidly on a weekly basis.

This is the reason why I am asking for some support for the first time in my live.

Leaving my pride aside and my fear of being criticised, I decided to reach out to this medium to ask for some help.

What am I needing and how will the funds be used?

I am hoping to raise €10,000 to help take my brother, his wife and child out of Venezuela and cover the expenses this will involve. This will cover:

- The cost of the plane tickets x 3
- Cover expenses such as rent, utility bills, food, transport etc. until they are able to settle and find full time employment.
- New clothing for the three of them as they won't be able to travel with much and they are not used to the winter and cold weather so don't have anything suitable.

All this support will mean a lot to all of us and I can guarantee that every single euro raised will be used in the most transparent and honest way.

Please, if you guys have any further questions just let me know and I will be happy to explain it in more detail.
