Valerie is a 13 years old girl, her birthday is coming up soon next Thursday, January 25th.
She was diagnosed with Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart due to a virus) on January 9th, after being taken to the ER for what was thought to be the flu. During the past week, she has been transferred twice (to a Long Island Children’s Hospital and back to New York). She is currently on PCICU at Morgan Stanley’s Children Hospital.
Doctors are currently considering a heart transplant, as hers is too weak and not working as it should. This, however, is very risky in her current situation.
Valerie’s mom, Myriam, is a single mom who has put work on hold to be next to her every step of the way until her full recovery. This Go Fund Me campaign is running to help raise funds for the medical costs not covered by the insurance, as well as the economical burden on the family.
