Port Jervis F.D. Fund Drive

Dear resident and neighbor,
A few years ago, the City Council commissioned a comprehensive survey by an independent consultant to insure we were operating our all-volunteer fire department in an efficient manner, concentrating on safety for our firefighters and our City residents. We have been implementing the recommendations of the report and we are happy to advise that we have improved our record keeping, apparatus and equipment maintenance, training and method of responding to emergency incidents. As a result we have been successful in improving our insurance rating to a level that often results in a reduction of fire insurance premiums.
You may have noticed that we have not solicited any contributions by means of an annual fund drive for the past three years. Rather than simply send out a request by mail year after year, we decided to be sensitive to those that always contribute, and wait until we had a truly valid reason to ask for your financial support.
As the City continues to develop the hiking and biking trails in our abundant mountainous terrain, we are tasked in providing the same level of response to those areas for both fire and life safety emergency responses. We were successful in applying for a grant for a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) a few years ago. Looking to the future however, we will need to properly outfit and equip the UTV with the ability to rescue and transport anyone injured in those areas, as well as attack any potential fires that may occur in those area. Your donation to this fund drive will allow us to acquire a combination skid mounted rescue/firefighting unit which will be installed on our UTV.

Any amount that you could comfortably share with us, will be greatly appreciated, and in doing so, you will know that you will be allowing us to continue helping those in their time of need.
