Cancer Can't Handle the Mandl 2017

Donation protected
During Christmas of 2015, a brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Maryland Beta, Mike Mandl, was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer called Osteosarcoma. Osteosarcoma affects roughly 800 people annually in the United States and is the third most common cancer in teens. Mike underwent intensive chemotherapy treatments to prevent his cancer from spreading. We are proud to announce that shortly after the event last Spring, Mike beat his cancer. In addition, Mike finished his last round of chemotherapy this past September.

On Thursday, April 13th, the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the sisters of Alpha Omicron Pi will team up to help raise money for other young adults in the fight against cancer. Our chapters will be selling "Cancer Can't Handle The Mandl" livestrong bracelets for $3 on the front lawn of AOII to raise awareness for Mike's strong will and determination to beat cancer. In addition, we will be offering off the opportunity to shave your favorite SAE's head in support of Mike's endurance through chemotherapy.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. The Ulman Fund helped Mike greatly during his battle with cancer, and we hope to give many other college students battling cancer the same help that they deserve.

Please help show your support for one of our campus' most resileint Terps. If you or a student group would like to show formal support, please contact Yuval Elkun at [email redacted] for more information.
