Lenny and the Dream Makers is a group of people whose mission is to reach out to the homeless population in our community and provide items of comfort and referral to appropriate social services. The founder, Mary Beth, has worked for the past 20 years with people who are homeless and disabled to find stable housing and needed support.
The boys you see here are now smiling and thriving in their new life, but not long ago their situation was very different. Imagine trying to raise two small children with no place to live, not knowing where you were going to sleep or what there was to eat. This was the day and night struggle physically and emotionally for Sherry and her two boys. Sherry had the additional challenge of a child with special needs and an abusive husband. Someone reached out and a stable home was found for Sherry and her boys. With support from organizations like ours, she has worked hard to get a good job and make a life for herself and her boys.

What we are asking is for you to give what you can to Lenny and the Dream Makers so we can make some dreams come true on one of our "capers." We recently had our second annual New Year's Eve caper where nine dream makers jumped into three cars filled with 120 sandwiches, water, candy, fruit, and snack crackers. In addition, we gave out 14 sleeping mats, 10 blankets, 52 bags of toiletries, 37 men's coats, 28 hats, 40 pairs of socks, 37 gloves, 41 women’s coats, 26 hats, 37 gloves, 41 scarves, 17 pairs of underwear and 20 hand warmers. With these simple items, lives were improved and a connection was made. Someone used to being ignored was seen, was acknowledged, was loved.
Our goal is to have multiple "capers" throughout the year. We ask that you join us in any way you can. Donations of money, clothing and toiletries are desperately needed. Items such as backpacks, flashlights and feminine products are of special need. With each donation you make, you will have touched a life, you will have planted a seed on the path to a home away from the streets. Thank you so much for joining us in making a difference.
