Sharon's Guatemala Mission Trip
When my church announced that their next Mission trip would be Guatemala my heart fluttered with happiness. You see, I was born in Guatemala and there will always be a speacial place in my heart for where I came from. I've lived well and I've lived poor. I know what it's like to have and what it's like to not have. I came here to Florida at the age of 12. I also lived in California and Texas for some time but later to return to Guatemala at a young age. After being in Guatemala for some time I forgot how to speak English and only spoke Spanish. So, when I came to Florida I was held back one year in school and I attended ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) classes on a regular basis and slowly but surely started to learn the language.
I've never been on a mission trip and never imagined that I would, or let alone go back to Guatemala especially now that I am a wife and mom to 3 children. Since I came to accept Jesus Christ in my heart September 11, 1998 there's always been this desire in my heart to minister to others. No matter how many times I've failed him the love in my heart for Christ has always been there bringing me back to my knees countless times to let me know that without him I am nothing. I owe my all to him for calling my name to come and accept his son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. There's nothing more than I desire than to be pleasing to the Lord and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to and to be a light onto this world for people to come to know him. I am asking for you to help me go back to where I came from, NOT for my own pleasure and entertainment but to return to Guatemala with a PURPOSE to do what God has called for us as his people to do.
New International Version
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
We will be in Antigua, Guatemala helping out with the community bringing homes back up to livable conditions as well as help out at a local orphanage and ministering to people. I was able to come up with some money of my own but still have $600 more to go and less than 12 days to do so. If I exceed what is needed, those extra funds will go to help out someone else who's also in need of raising money for this mission trip. Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this and helping out.
