My Bike Tour to Help Support UNICEF

Tax deductible
This summer, I found myself with some free time between my semesters. I decided I wanted to use my break to go on an adventure that would initially sound impossible. I chose to plan a solo bike tour across the United States. I’ll be biking from the east coast to the west coast over the course of two months, attempting to see as much of our country's national parks as possible.

I've always loved backpacking. The idea of going exploring through the wilderness or unknown cities with everything I need on my back gets me excited.  When I decided that biking across the country was the best course of action to achieve my goal of exploring our country's national parks, I didn't really know much about bike touring. I had always biked as a teenager to get around before I could drive, so I feel comfortable on a bike. But biking around town, and biking across the country are two very different things. I knew I had a lot to learn, so I started a plan and put it into action.

With my departure date of June 1st nearing, and my plans getting closer and closer to being complete; I decided I want to do more with my bike tour. A few friends and family members had pitched a similar idea to me, to find a way to raise money for a good cause. That is what brought me here.

I decided I want to support the charity UNICEF. I strongly believe that supporting our younger generations is the best way to help move our world forward. From UNICEF's mission statement,
"We believe ZERO children should be abused, exploited or denied the right to health care, education and protection. It's an ambitious goal, but we believe that unwavering commitment is the only way to guarantee a better world for children. Your support will help us build that world."
UNICEF has the right mindset, to strive for your goals no matter how difficult it may seem to attain them.

I would like for people to pledge a cent, fractions of a cent, or multiple cents for every mile that I bike from coast to coast. The money that is pledged will go directly to supporting UNICEF with their efforts. A penny per mile pledge would total around $35.00-$40.00 dollars.

Unfortunately it seems like GoFundMe doesn’t allow for these types of pledges, so if you want to wait and see my progress before you donate follow me @ZacSparta for updates on my trip. I am also working on getting a wordpress site up to post updates there.

Thank you,
