Medical Costs for Bob Holmes

Bob, my much-loved husband of 46 years, had some pretty heavy-duty pain all during 2018 due to kidney stones. When he went in for lithotripsy in October, his Urologist, Dr. Martin, found Transitional Cell Carcinoma, Stage Two. Those are the cells that line your urinary system and which can expand and contract according to the amount of urine coming through them at any one given time. Dr. Martin recommended the removal of Bob's left kidney. Two weeks later, in November, Bob went through major surgery. Follow up: Two biopsies to try to figure out what kind of chemo Bob needs, how much, and where to go to have it. This was interesting because we got caught between our Urologist and our Oncologists. From February to June 2019, we have sort of been in a holding pattern. However, Chemotherapy is being set up, whether it's here, at Sacred Heart or at Baptist, or whether or not we go to M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX, for another biopsy. We are looking at considerable costs regardless of what we choose. Bob and I are grateful beyond words for all of the support and encouragement that has come our way since Bob was diagnosed. We have been blown away by such amazing generosity, kindness, and compassion. Cancer survivors have shared their tremendous stories of courage with us, making this a little easier to bear. We hope, down the road, to share our own story of surviving cancer. In the meantime, thank you, if you can contribute. We deeply appreciate your help.
