Get Lost Queens To CURVYcon + Afropunk

My name is Eboni Merriman and in August of 2014, Lost Queens came to light.
I didn’t know then what I was trying to accomplish, but I knew I wanted to find a way to display my love for being a woman while providing what I felt was a necessary, and sorely lacking, representation for women that looked like me.
On that day, Lost Queens was born, and since then, the growth of Lost Queens has been incredible. I am humbled everyday by the support of this community we’re building from the ground up.
Lost Queens is about celebrating women from all walks of life. From our Instagram, which is a safe space where diversity is encouraged and sisterhood is a requirement, to our jewelry, Lost Queens cares about every single woman we touch with our work. ensure we support our community by donating a portion of our proceeds to different Queens chasing their dreams as well as various social justice issues.
So this brings me to the reason for this fundraiser!
Lost Queens has a relatively small but GOOD dilemma we wanted to reach out to our community about.
We’ve been presented with some really awesome opportunities we would be FOOLS to pass up on. However, with a lack of resources, it’s difficult to cover the costs of investment in these opportunities.
Everything I have and everything Lost Queens generates goes back into operating this business and paying it forward through our charitable contributions. There’s no room for profit, and very little wiggle room to GROW the business.
The HIGHLY esteemed Curvy Con, a day-long event that will bring plus size brands, Fashionistas, shopaholics, Bloggers and YouTubers into one room to chat curvy, shop curvy and embrace curvy. With panelists such as Garner Style, Plus Size Princess, Nadia Aboulhosn, Crissle, Amber Riley, Kierra Sheard, Gabifresh and so much more, Curvy Con has invited US (yes, omg!!!!) to participate in their gift bags.
What this means is that we have the opportunity to present our brand to 300 awesome souls, letting them know who we are. This also means unlimited potential for press to spread the word about our movement, all while impacting even more women to LOVE themselves and celebrate their existence.
And on top of that (drum roll, please...) we've been chosen out of 100's of applicants to vend at the esteemed Afropunk NYC this upcoming August!!!!!!!!!!!
To be fully transparent, this is a huge undertaking for such a small business ran by one woman. So, of course we’re exhausting all of our resources to gather enough branding materials and product to leave in these gift bags and put our best foot forward.
The Afropunk first deposit is $400 and is due May 31st so that's our first priority with this fundraiser. After that, we'll be using the additional funds to cover the cost of branding materials, packaging and sample product for the CurvyCon bags. We estimate that to cost us $500. The second and final deposit for Afropunk is due June 29th for another $400 so that will be our third priority. All funds collected in addition to this will start to help us prepare for the daunting task of putting together an awesome tent for Afropunk 2015!!
Guys, we’re asking that you consider even donating $5. With over 3,000 Instagram followers and a strong community that just keeps on growing, we’re confident that the needs will be met, and that we’ll be able to achieve these dreams and keep making you, and future Lost Queens, all proud.
