Young family goes from joy to a life time of struggle
Glenn and Emma were a young happy family with 2 young girls 2 and 6 managing through life, Glenn had a kidney failure and needed a transplant and Emma was a type 1 diabetic with multiple injections every day, they took all of this as part of life and were happy worked hard and were on the outside your average young couple enjoying the kids grow up and part of the community.
6 weeks ago, Glenn had a kidney transplant, his mother was the donor, within a week they felt on top of the world, had a new job and their life was great, the 2 girls had their dad to play with and Emma had a healthy husband.
Glenn’s medication costs them after govt help $250.00 a month, this was a strain but they had worked around it and could live with that. Two days before Glenn was to go back to work after the transplant Emma hurt her shoulder, she couldn’t move it the next day and the doctor told her there was nothing wrong and to rest it.
Within 48 hours Emma was rushed TO HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE within 6 hours transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Emma was rushed straight into surgery were they removed her shoulder, arm and torso to the rib cage, she had NECROTISING FASCIITIS commonly called FLESH EATING DISEASE, each hour they were preparing to remove more, like the other arm, Emma was in intensive care for 2 weeks no one believed she would survive.
Doctors said 3 to 6 months in hospital, this was 4 weeks ago, Glenn can’t work as the 2 girls need full time attention, they have no income, receiving no benefits and have crippling medical bills, the sad thing about this is it’s not a short-term issue.
This beautiful family tasted normality for a week then were hit with a lifetime of hardship, When Emma comes home she will need special help, the young girls will need help and sooner or later Glenn needs to get back to work to earn an income to support the family and the life time medication requirements that both will need and of course the bank won’t hold the mortgage will they, your help would be appreciated
