Hogwarts in Minnetonka: Magic for Good

Tax deductible
6 months, 37 volunteers, and 5000 people came to see a magical re-imagination of Hogwarts. An hour long tour complete with  characters, story reenactments, and hands on experiences; people from all over were able to experience the magic free of charge. A suggested donation of $10 and non perishable foods were asked instead.

Every single dollar collected went to Living Faith Spiritual Community, a 501c-3 that has dedicated their efforts to better the community. With the funds, Living Faith Spiritual Community was able to help multiple teen programs with both funds and resources, donate toys to Resource West’s birthday program, and provide 2000 lbs of food to ICA Food Shelf. They also filled 100 homeless packs and made 200 hand tied blankets.

With the immense success of this event, Magic For Good was created, a chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance. The HPA is an international nonprofit, “changing the world by making activism accessible through the power of story.”

Now our goal is to do it again. To find more programs who need support, and use our magic for good. Here’s the catch. The original set was made of cardboard and Styrofoam in 2017. It was for a graduation party, only meant to withstand a weekend of celebration. As you can imagine, after 6 months of tours and over a year of general wear and tear, the “bricks” are quite literally falling off the walls.

In order to do it again, (and we mean, more than once) we need to recreate our vision of Hogwarts in a more sustainable and permanent way.

Our goals include stronger, more life like walls and better lighting for efficiency, safety, and effect.

If we surpass our goal, we will add more magical effects to what will be an "Interactive play,"  and potentially new floors. Anything left over will go to the non profits chosen for this event. If you have a program you would like us to consider, please let us know via facebook  or email [email redacted].

Please Note:
Warner Brothers and J.K.Rowling are not responsible nor affiliated with Magic for Good nor any events Magic For Good has, or     will, host. Magic for Good is a chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance, a 501c3 non-profit that uses the power of story and popular
culture to inspire fans to be like the heroes they read about. Likewise, Magic for Good focuses on the Harry Potter story to inspire the use of our own magic, that is, our words and actions, to educate the community on issues, and use that knowledge to spread      goodness and change. MFG has partnered with LFSC, a 501c3 whose goals are to bring good to the world through partnership, creativity, knowledge and experience. Together, we can help transform the world.
