Where do I begin..... 
My name is Melanie Taylor, most call me Mel. I'm from Augusta, GA and I am a cosmetologist. I have been in this industry for almost 11 1/2 yrs. I started out at the age of 19. I eat, sleep and breathe the hair care industry. There is nothing else I can see myself doing in life. I love how it's always something new to learn ,how it touches the lives of others , how it has been my safe haven and ministry.
My mentor has always said to me "You have to do it, because after you show it can be done there are no more excuse!" And my whole expression is Why me ... I can't do this, I don't have any help,I'm not smart enough to make this work , I don't have a degree or money to make this happen, nobody will listen to me... Why me.
My past was not good but my past showed me that God will take you and whatever your situation is and make it for his good. Your testing time is just your testimony for you to show others what God can do and has done no matter how ashamed, guilty or embarrassed you are.
I was a teen mom, didnt finish college ,I have been a victim of low self esteem , depression, emotional abuse, a situation away from not wanting to be here anymore ,someone's cell mate , and on welfare assistance. There is not enough space for me to tell what I have dealt with... But God is all I can say! With all odds against me. He took little ol' me with my broken , ashamed and not qualified self and made me a international educator for Ashtae products where I have traveled all over the US and abroad educating hairstylists. I became business owner in 2008 at the age of 23 with no experience in running a business ,which we are in our second location and still going strong til this day through various advertising and social media. I have been able to help with several back to school drives, toy drives and collecting prom dresses to donate to students. Starting challenges for people to become healthy , and speak at different conferences /functions. I also help minister to my clients in ways I have never imagined from the high student, to the client battling with cancer ,going through a divorce or lost a loved one and the single mother that's just trying to press her way all before the age of 30.
The reason I'm setting up this campaign "The Stepping Stone "is because I never imagined in a million years being a business owner or doing so well in this industry and it is all because God placed people in my life that saw something in me that I didnt see in myself that pushed me and showed me that it could be done. The name of my salon Unique Vision has truly given me a unique vision.
The stepping stone would be a place where high school students that are interested in the industry can be mentor, cosmetologist can get ready for stateboard, cosmetologist that are just graduating can have a place to work but while there learn how to build clientele, run a business, good work ethics , professionalism and eventually go off to be an entrepreneur and run their own business. Learn how write business plans and build resumes & portfolio . Also I want to be able to mentor young ladies/ single moms/ cancer survivors /abuse victims on self esteem and imgage. Doing services to help build them back up and their confidence.
I want to pay it forward by opening this facility to help someone just like someone helped me if they have ever felt like they were counted out. I am asking the community to help plant a seed to help the community. This will create jobs and expose so many to another mind set. It will help so many generations to come and help our children for the future .
I have been dreaming and looking at this building since January 2015. Just praying and saying to myself what all can be done in this building. The property was for sale for $650,000 which I knew I couldn't even think about. But as of this week the building is up for auction because no one was interested. I went to see the building and just kept walking and saying God I know this is it but the bank is not fixing to give me all the money I need to win this auction , renovate and buy all equipment to put in building. All day I just kept saying how can I do this and " the go fund me" popped in my head. I second guessed it over and over in my head. Called my mom and told her what I was thinking. She said how is that going to work. I said I'm just having faith of a mustard seed if I can get 500,000 people to donate $1. She said that would truly be a work of God but what do you have to lose...
We hung up and I said to myself..
God said he does exceedingly and more abundantly than we can ask or think.
I'm having the faith of a mustard seed. Increase my territory so that I can show others how you have touched me and can touch them also.
I am asking you to help me raise enough money to bid and purchase building at auction by the deadline April 29th, do renovations, and buy all equipment to get the facility started so we can help make as much of a impact in someone''s life as possible.  I want to show people how much more they can do if they just reach for the stars and don't look back .
