Richard's (RAWA) Medical Fund

On August 25, 2015, we got the call from the doctor nobody wants to hear, "You have a brain tumor."

Our lives were spun into overdrive with more tests and doctor appointments. On September 15, 2015, Richard went in for brain surgery. Our lives seemed to be on hold. That was the longest day of my life.

Soon the doctor had good news, and our stress seemed to subside. Richard was released from the hospital five days later, and all preliminary tests looked good.

However, on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Richard's 10-day check up, we got more detailed pathology results. They were not what we hoped they would be.

Brain tumors are scored on a scale from 1 to 4, with 1 being benign and 4 being the most agressive cancer. Richard's tumor was scored as a grade 3.

We still do not know all of the answers, but we are now again on a fast track of doctor appointments and further testing.

The biopsy of the tumor has been sent for a second opinion at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. We have not yet heard the results of the second opinion.
