Liver Transplant

Donation protected
This woman is my rock, my go to person, the center that holds everything together for our family.  In 2012, mom was hospitalized with a fatty liver.  When doctors went in to heal an ulcer, they realized how bad her liver was....I remember my dad being beside himself because the doctor told him basically she would die and there was nothing they could do.  This was a hard pill to swallow to say the least.  I was about to give birth to my little girl the same week she was hospitalized.  What would I do without my mom by my side, encouraging me, and getting me through bringing my baby girl into the world?  The day of delivery came and she was finally discharged the day I brought her sweet grand-baby into the world.  Little did I know the bond these two would share.  She is wonderful with Kyleigh and honestly I think Kyleigh is one of the things that keeps her pushing on.  Fast forward to the past two years.  Mom has been through more than I could ever have imagined.  Her health has declined to the point that she is unable to do things with us as a family, she has a hard time walking small distances, she stays soooooo tired.  Basically her liver is in the final stages of failure.  Her liver scores have reached the point of transplant.  I have watched my mom waste away before my eyes the past two years.   Her joy is gone until Kyleigh walks into the room and begs her to do something with her.  I watch as mom pushes every bit of energy she has left to try and create memories she can with Kyleigh.  Recently, mom went to Duke and met with the transplant team.  She meets the requirements needed to be on the transplant list with the exception of having money in savings.   They will not place her on the list until she has $5, 000 put aside.  This is required as she will be hospitalized for 2 weeks straight, then required to stay in an apartment close by to the hospital for a month following the transplant.  The sad part is, doctors now are concerned with her kidneys as well.  They have went through a lot the past 6 years with all the medicine she has been on to help her liver continue to function.  To some, this amount may seem small, but to us it is huge.  Mom has been out of work on disability for several years now.  My dad will be unable to work during this time of her surgery as he is primary care giver and is expected to be with her all most every day.  This will leave dad unable to work during this time.  Yes his job will be secure, but not working = no income, therefore its not like they have any extra to put aside right now.  Dad is constantly back and forth to doctors appointments, to hospitals, to meetings with mom because she has a hard time remembering much anymore due to ammonia building up in her brain.  The toughest thing is watching my mom fade away right before my eyes, my best friend, the lady that has been there for me through everything and loved me unconditional.  The lady who makes my sweet little girl so happy.  I can't imagine what we would do without her.  I know we serve a big, big God and he will provide.  He knows what the future holds and the plans that lie ahead, but I have to try to do my part.  I would love to just write my parents a huge check and be able to give it to them.  They always have made sure I was provided for even if it meant they did without, but unfortunately  our incomes don't allow that.  That is where I am asking for your help......Mom needs us all to come together as friends, church families, family, past coworkers, acquaintances, school mates, and whoever else we can share her story with and get support from.   Your support and donation mean more than you could ever imagine.  You are not only affecting one life, but I know many.  Mom has touched so many people and I know my little princess would be crushed without her Gannie in her world.
