USS Turner Joy DD-951 Preservation Project

Please join us as we work to gather the final funds needed to cover contingencies for our upcoming Historic Preservation Project!  We have approximately 90% of the funds needed to assure this project is fully funded.

The USS Turner Joy DD-951 is a historic Vietnam Era Forrest Sherman Class Destroyer.

Her service in the US Navy was from 1959 to 1982.  She is famed for her involvement in the Gulf of Tonkin incident and naval service in the Vietnam War.

Since 1991, the Bremerton Historic Ships Association in Bremerton, Washington, has worked diligently to preserve the legacy of the USS Turner Joy, through education, community outreach and public tours.

The ship is open for tours and  is a short ferry ride from Seattle, located in the Bremerton Marina.

The Historic Preservation Project entails taking the ship into dry dock this year to have her hull cleaned, inspected and repainted, along with other maintenance that cannot normally be conducted outside of dry dock.

Your generous donation will ensure that she will remain as a historic museum ship for visitors from around the world to enjoy.

Your contributions will also insure the continuation of our STEM Academy, CPO Legacy Academy Program, memorial for fallen heroes, and the preservation of the historic vessel involved in the Gulf of Tonkin incident and service in the Vietnam War.

Thank you for your generous contribution and for helping us preserve this great piece of American history!
