The former crewmembers would like to ask the public to show their support for these military veterans.
The USS JOHN YOUNG, DD 973 was commissioned May 20, 1978. The ship and its crew served our country for over 24 years, and next year the former crewmembers will gather to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the ship's commissioning.
Recently the organizers were able to contact a family that was rescued by crewmembers in the early 80's and this will be the first time in over 30 years that they will be able to talk with those who helped them.
