Support Jennet’s Summer of Cancer Research at Harvard

Jennet Hojanazarova is a top biology student at Waldorf University in Forest City Iowa. Jennet has a 3.91 GPA and a strong drive to contribute to the quality of life through a career in biomedical research. Since her freshman year, Jennet has competed for opportunities to pursue research. She spent her first summer at the University of Iowa identifying gene regulatory sequences that increase a person’s risk for cleft lip/palate. During the following school year, she helped identify a strategy that shows promise for treating Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy. Last summer, she won an opportunity to study the effects of calcium channels on protein secretion in human cells at the University of Montana. This coming summer, Jennet has the rare opportunity of joining a large multidisciplinary lab in the Center for Cancer Immunology at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School. This lab is pioneering work into helping the immune system recognize and target cancers at much earlier stages than is currently possible. Success in this research could open the doors to effective prevention of cancer or treatment of cancer in more tractable stages. To participate, Jennet needs to raise funds for living expenses and stipend. The estimate provided by the Center for Cancer Immunology is $7000. If you are
