Dear Sponsors:
I am aware of the extensive and generous support you provide to various community groups in the area. I am hoping you can extend such generosity to me for participation in the 2018 World Masters Athletics Championships as a member of the USA Track and Field Team.
I plan to participate in the following events: 80 meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump, javelin, shot put and relays. My goal is to raise funds for a round-trip flight to Malaga Spain and a hotel stay from 09/02 – 09/17 and meals. I should note here that I would be happy to distribute some promotional products to the thousands of participants expected at this world event.
My journey began at Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, participating in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, along with the 4×100 and 4×400 relay races. My performances earned me a track scholarship to Virginia State University. I further my education at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia. Where I participated in multiple events and excelled throughout my career. I was the conference champion in the 100 meter hurdle, was on championship teams in the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays, and was second in the 400 meter hurdle. I was also named to second-team all-conference in the 55 and 400 meter hurdles, 4×800 meter relay, shot put, cross country and the heptathlon.
I also continued my track and field career, this time coaching at several local schools in the Newport News and Williamsburg area, coaching at Peninsula Catholic, Warwick, Bruton and Denbigh High School. I also volunteer as an assistant track coach with an AAU Summer Track Club — the East End Flyers in Newport News.
In 2015, I participated in the USATF Masters Outdoor Track and Field national championships in Jacksonville, FL., winning the 80-meter hurdle race, finishing second in the high jump, and third in the long jump. The next year in Grand Rapids, MI., I took first in the shuttle hurdle relay and 4×100 meter relay and second in the 80-meter hurdles and high jump. Last year in Baton Rouge, LA., I won the high jump and shuttle hurdle relay events, placed second in the 80-meter hurdles and third in the high jump. At the 2018 indoor national meet in Landover, MD., I placed second in the 60 meter hurdles, second in the high jump, fifth in the long jump, and seventh in the 60 meter run and shot put.
