Usagi the Bunny

Donation protected
On Monday, January 4th I noticed that my bunny Usagi wasn't waiting to greet me at the entrance of her cage. I had been away from home all day because of school so this was very unlike her. I left her cage open for two hours and she didn’t move from her spot in that whole time. The next morning i noticed she still hadn’t moved. I cleaned her litter bo and gave her fresh hay and went to class. After class i noticed that she had used the litter box but there was not the usual amount of feces. In fact there was about 1/8 of what she normally produces.
Wednesday morning I phoned my vet clinic and made an appointment for that morning. I tried to get her to eat but she refused. Even her favourite snack, banana (which she once stole right out of my hand!) was not enough to entice her.
The vet gave me some pain killers and said that if she hadn’t pooped or eaten in 24 hours to take her to the vet college on campus.
Thursday morning Usagi had still not eaten or moved. I took her into the small animal emergency room and they began to examine her.
The vets couldn’t establish a diagnosis from a physical examination alone. Blood tests and a radiograph were administered and they found a large build up of gas in her intestines and that she had a high fever.
At this point Usagi began to have a strange discharge coming from her nose and her breathing became laboured.
On Thursday night Usagi still hadn’t eaten.
Friday morning the vet called saying that her fever was back up and that she was on oxygen to help her breathing.
This beings us to now. She will undergo anesthesia even though there is a risk to her life, in order to check her teeth for abnnormalities. The vet is also going to administer a CT Scan in order to see if the problem lies in her sinuses.
I have spent $1000 at this point in treatment. I have depleted my savings and will likely have to borrow money.
This is where I humbly ask for your help. Any donation will be GREATLY appreciated and I swear to do everything I can to pay it forward.
I know it may sound silly to spend so much money on a rabbit but she is my family and I made a promise to her to take care of her and that she would be safe in my care.
If you know me in person or online, you know how much animals mean to me. I love all animals, especially my own two fur babies.
I genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for listening to my story and I wish you love and light.
Thank you.
