USA Rugby South Panthers campaign

$1,175 of $3,000 goal

My name is Willis Lincoln Hardaway, known by family and friends as simply "TJ." I recently graduated from University of Memphis and on the day of graduation, I moved to Atlanta, GA, known as the capital of the South, in an effort to reach a level of athleticism that could allow me to contribute to a developing community. I play rugby, am a visual artist by nature, and compete in weightlifting. I have recently been given an opportunity to play for the USA Rugby South Panthers. This is a Division 3 national team of the United States that is well known for allowing players significant exposure to achieve a higher level of rugby as a career. However, participation comes with a price. The team is known to cover some aspects of being a player, but the team plans to participate in international competitions and travel to nations such as Bermuda, Trinidad, the Cayman Islands, and compete in a European tour of Hungary, Austria, and Czechia. The expenses for each journey will be extensive, because my participation includes paying for flight costs, tournament fees, eating, and so on. This is an opportunity for an athlete that has never been a part of a national championship rugby team, or reared to pursue rugby early in life, to showcase himself and represent his community. My presence on the team would be a testimony to the power of rugby in my birthplace of Memphis and my capital city of Atlanta, GA (a place that I have grown to love and support during my recent residency) to give young men and women an avenue to better themselves mentally, physically, and culturally. My primary goal is to reach the USA national team, as well as bring South rugby to the world, and in doing so, bring the world's rugby back to the South. I will not simply be an athlete playing rugby due to the generosity of people who believe in my ambition. I will be an ambassador for the city of Memphis, TN and for the state of Georgia to elevate the environment as a place for rugby to flourish. I will be eternally grateful for any help provided and if my campaign is successful, be assured that i will give back to Tennessee, Georgia Rugby Union, and the Intercity Ruby organization. Thank you so much, and count on U.S.A. for Tokyo 2020 Olympics!

Hello everyone! I have been blessed to be successfully selected to participate with the USA South in the Rugby America North Championship. Every game is a tryout, but my first official match is in Bermuda on the second week of May. This feels like all my hard work is finally producing results. If you could continue to participate in my financial obligations, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for all your support!
