Help Reduce CoronaVirus Spread
December 9 2020. My new campaign is live @
gofundme.com/f/water-to-fight-covid
This campaign below is for reference only, but
the link below is very helpful to get more
overview. I had written and posted it on
Facebook and was picked up by

Water Crisis from June 2019 To Date
Please note water returned for about three
months in 2020 and there has been no running water since April this year for some in various localities including shacks. Several water protests have yielded no gains. Water delivery by
truckers very irregular and fraught with danger as people fight over the water. See updates.
Thank You.
—————————————————————————-Original story
Story written in 2019 by myself Nkazi Sinandile. My Sister who has a car helped me go buy
purified bottled water and delivered to the most vulnerable families including the elderly.
—————————————————————————-August 2019
Written By Nkazi Sinandile in Butterworth
South Africa
I am the founder of New Mexico Women’s
Global Pathways - a family strengthening job
and education skills training in Albuquerque
New Mexico USA. I am also a native of South
Africa. My home is in rural Butterworth- Gcuwa
Eastern Cape South Africa.
I volunteer my services along my husband and
volunteers serving at risk yet resilient women,
girls and families in Albuquerque New Mexico
USA.
There is an urgency, a painful heart rending that needs collective unified action.
Will You join me in supporting a good cause in
Butterworth where around sixty thousand
people live?
I am raising money to provide thousands of
purified bottled water to my community in a
rural township Butterworth South Africa. Your
donation will make an impact, whether you
donate a lot or a little. Anything helps.
Water delivery by water tankers is very sporadic
and inconsistent and when trucks arrive fights
arise and many go home without water.
The elderly and the disabled miss out. Shack
dwellers who rely on communal taps rarely see awater tanker in their location.
Women, girls, boys are always in danger of beingmolested as they walk distances to fetch water.
People are exposed to snakes and criminals
everytime they go to the field to relieve
themselves ( toileting).
Women find it difficult to keep clean during theirmenstrual cycles. People develop painful and
itchy rashes from washing and drinking
dirty water.
Between June and August 2019, water stopped flowing to our homes October our taps ran dry. Our Butterworth-Gcuwa dam has no water, but
is full of sand and silt and animals die there.
Community members have been wanting to
remove silt and sand from the dam, but have not been allowed. Community does not know how
funds allocated by the Water and Sanitation
department have been spent.
First water shortage was caused by some
municipal Workers who closed water valves
so that the communities would rise up and stage water protests.
While the second water crisis was caused by drought it also has a bad human
element - including inconsistent water delivery by trucks ( once a month in some areas with
other localities not receiving any truck water
which is unclean.

That is me getting down to go to this scary place to draw water which was light orange.

Water that I was drawing from a cistern. See me behind this man - am wearing a yellow skirt.
I took this picture below. Within 4 feet of this is a bore hole where my Sister, myself and others
draw water unfit for drinking no less than three
times a week.
I took this picture where I and others lined up to get water from a bore hole no less than three times a week.
This is me drawing water from a bore hole with
an inscription that warned us to not drink the
water which looks clean when it flows but some told me that they drink the water, because they have no choice.
This bore hole from which I am drawing water that looks clean yet toxic. Others drink it and only those who have money to buy purified bottled
water do not. Those use it to clean homes, flush
toilets, wash bodies and water plants. It lies with 2 feet alongside a filthy stream as above picture and pics below. It is 15 miles from where I live with my Sister.
There is a bore hole alongside this stream where people including my self draw water. The bore
hole in picture above lies about 4 feet from the
bore hole where people draw water that is not
fit for drinking.
Children had just left
my home where my Sister and I gave them
bottled water.
Children in search of water
Water that We find when We search. I took this pic before I went down to the same ditch this
man had drawn this water.
The children still need bottled water. We saw
them and gave some water to them during the
first water crisis in one of the shack dweller localities. https://www.gofundme.com/f/urgent-clean-bottled-water-for-families
We will deliver to the people living here.
Struggling families.who will also benefit from
this fund raiser reside here. These families.have no taps in their homes, no toilets. They use a communal tap that is producing no water for weeks now. They have no running tap water.
