URGENT NEED Our local emergency homeless shelter is serving at maximum capacity, many families seeking shelter still need help. Jan.- Aug. 2016 (131 family members ) comprising 38 families were turned away from the local homeless shelter primarily due to lack of space.
Families First Community Center is a non profit whose primary goal is to help homeless families with children. A major focus will be to support these parents, helping them to get the life skills they need to become self sufficient. The home they are planning to purchase will provide housing for 6 families.
Generational poverty is one of the biggest causes of homelessness in our area. By reaching out to families we can change lives right now and for future generations.
Families First Community Center has the community support of 40 local organizations and businesses, and has already secured permanent housing vouchers as well as funds to support case managers, licensed day care, and a 2 year lease for a passenger van has been donated by Darlings Auto.
FFCC needs to raise $ 130,000 to cover the costs of the repairs and renovations to the house they plan to buy located at 41 North St. Ellsworth. Once they have this, with the help of Seaboard Federal Credit Union they will purchase the house, begin work , with the goal of having families in the house later this year!
