Urgent Abortion Fund - Asking for help
Donation protected
First off, I want to thank anyone who is taking the time to read this. I am posting this on behalf of a friend who would prefer to remain anonymous as this is a scary time in the world and a difficult situation. This is her story;
Hey there everyone. Thank you immensely for taking the time to read. First off, I respect everyones opinions regarding this matter and have decided having an abortion at this time in my life is the best option for me. I am currently in a spot where asking for outside help is a very difficult thing to do, but I am out of options. I found out from Planned Parenthood today that I am 16 weeks pregnant. I am 25 years old. This comes with great emotional distress. I was out of work when I found out and my significant other offered to pay the full amount. We were told it was $490 and I had to wait for him to make the money since he was out of work due to a family death. I know many judge for waiting so long, and honestly it's a battle.
My insurance is through a christian hospital that will not give a referral for the procedure. I was unable to find anywhere to go to receive an ultrasound right away, but I knew I had to wait regardless. I just didn't think it would be until this point.
Here's where the "why" I am asking for help comes in. After going to Planned Parenthood today, prepared yet anxious for the procedure, and only having $300, I was told payment plans aren't accepted as well as when you're 16 weeks, the price goes up to $970. I paid $100 for the ultrasound and blood work, so the price goes down to $870. I recently started a new job, but I am urged not to wait, as well as by the time I get paid (which still will not be enough to cover the procedure) it will be waiting until 18 weeks. Which the price then goes up from the original $970, to $1500. I honestly had no idea it worked like this. They told me if I can come up with the funds for a new appointment this upcoming Wednesday, I will only have to pay the $970, minus the $100 I paid today.
Asking for help during this time is very difficult, I would not be doing so if it wasn't a matter of time and complete distress. I am beyond grateful to have so many supportive friends there for me in this time of need. I never imagined I'd be here. This has also taught me how much I want to help others in my situation when the time comes.
If my campaign raises more money than is needed, I will donate this money to Planned Parenthood (If they allow to pass funds on to someone in need,) a specific fund, or a specific person in the exact situation.
Thank you so much.
