GOOD WORK: Lama + his Friends 'hand-made' 3500 Bricks for Boundary Fence last Week (12th - 27th Dec).

Update: December 27th 2018

We have sent Lama US $500 on Dec 12th for Concrete, Sand to make first lot of Bricks for Boundary Fence. On 27th Dec we sent him US $1260.90 which except for AUD $99.72c is ALL the Funds we have raised so far (includes the AUD $2000 contributed from Maria after a sale of a Car).  This is so Lama can continue making the Bricks, which means ordering more trucks of Sand & Concrete. His goal is to make $7000 odd bricks before the end of January.

Given we have only AUD $99.72c left in the account, we need to raise more funds IF we are to continue our support for this amazing and most productive project. Please Give what you can. The aim is to help Lama succeed in Building his House for his Mother and younger siblings. The house they live in at present is not theirs. Their relatives want them (urgently) to move out because the house is unsafe to live in... because "it is literally falling down".

Update: December 12th 2018
Thank You to Everyone who has contributed to Lama's campaign so far. With some of the funds  we have sent, Lama has finally been able to start quoting the cost of concrete and sand to start the mixing to make blocks for the Boundary Fence. Before Lama and his family can lay the gardens or do much else on the land... they need to build a Boundary Fence around the block for security. We will have more photo's of his progress soon.

Update: Video Footage on Drilling a Water Bore.
It is for my next door Neighbor (says Lama)

Water for Survival
_____________________

"I hope one day to have water on my own land" says Lama from West Africa.

In this video he is helping his neighbor drill for water.

The neighbor has paid around $2600,00 to have the Drill Team come and sink a Bore hole so he can have running water, before he builds his house. A Bore hole is very good and I wish I could have water like this for me and my family.

Having water tanks to hold water for your garden is highly important if you grow your own fruits, vegetables, or anything else. Washing clothes is a necessity. A Bore Hole like this one being sunk, is highly useful for storing water in a nearby tank, build bricks, to use it to wash your laundry, for bathing and basic survival.

We all need Water. Like the air we breathe... "

LAMA NEEDS FUNDS TO BUILD A HOUSE IN GAMBIA
______________________________________________________________

The house he lives in is unsafe. The roof leaks and the walls are literally falling down.

Learn more from Lama   http://www.urbancolours.online  in his own words from his website.  See his Home Project page and please look at his Budget in his web menu.

Lama is 18 years old. He is very poor, and struggles to provide for his single mother and his 4 younger siblings. His father died a few months ago.

The relatives who own the land and house that Lama's family are living in, would seriously like Lama's family, to move out.

The problem is, they have absolutely nowhere else to go.

The Good News is that Lama's father who worked as a crop laborer in Guinea, has left the family a small piece of land. Lama's father worked away from home, because of the lack of work in The Gambia. He had been saving over his lifetime, to build a safe house for his family. He died of Malaria.

Until he died, the family had no idea. He had meant it as a surprise.

All the responsibility now falls on Lama, as the eldest to provide for his family. He has had to leave school and get a job. After an endless search, he finally has a job, as an assistant,  in a wholesale foods store at the Brikama Market.  He earns $57 per month, just enough to feed the family. It is not enough to build a house... that is an urgent priority. They family is desperate. The fret even time it rains or the wind blows. It is difficult to keep anything dry during the wet-season.

Lama at night studies, is self learning with me on how to do html & css on Facebook. It is very difficult because without access to power, he has to do this by phone.

Who am I?

My name is Maria Altmann and I live in Australia. I have worked on community projects most of my life but now, I am mostly retired.

I do hope you hear Lama's desperate call. He is a humble, hard-working generous and extremely honest young man.

Lama is very stressed by his housing situation, and appeals to your goodwill to help him fundraise and give him your support.
