Lyft Me Up

I was involved in a car accident November 5th of last year where I was hit by someone who did not have a valid DL or any car insurance.  At the time of my accident I was also driving for Lyft and had just finished dropping off a passenger when minutes later I was hit.

At the time of the accident, the driver who hit me was arrested at the scene. I was then taken to the nearest hospital and hours later discharged back home. I proceeded to file a claim with my primary insurance, which at the time was American Family. I reported that at the time of the accident I was driving for Lyft and had finished dropping off a passenger and waiting for another request to come in.  American Family denied my claim and stated I needed to file my claim with Lyft as I was logged in with them at the time of the crash.  I immediately disagreed, but continued and followed through with contacting Lyft.

After a few days later, Lyft also denied my claim and stated  I was not transporting anyone and that I should file a claim with my primary insurance.  After battling back and forth and being stuck in the middle of  both insurances, I decided to hire a private attorney.  After a few weeks later Lyft was agreeable to covering for my medical claims, but not my collision claim.

As I continue to battle both insurances I then decided to file a report with the Attorney General Department and recently received a response that my property damage will not be covered from either one of the insurances. I currently have a brand new 2018 Jeep that is considered a total loss and I'm forced to make monthly payments on the vehicle as its' still considered my responsibility. How can anyone paying full coverage on a vehicle be facing this injustice? Its unfortunate, but this system seems to set everyone to fail even for those who comply and abide by all the rules.

I'm  a single mother and still struggling without my own vehicle. It has been nothing, but a nightmare, since the day of my accident. For example, I recently had to take my Jeep out of the towing lot that it was sitting in since the day of the accident and had to pay close to two thousands dollars to get it out as it was going to be considered an abandoned vehicle. I feel hopeless as nothing is guaranteed even when you do things the right way. I was the driver who had the valid DL and had FULL-coverage on my vehicle and here I am facing this struggle and complete injustice.

I'm desperate to get back on the road with my own car. I'm hoping that by starting a gofundme I can  pay off my Jeep as it was considered a total loss. Please my son and I I need your endless support right  now. Thank you for your time and cooperation. God bless!
