UpLift is a Christian, woman owned bra fitting salon in Baton Rouge, LA. Our mission is to give out bras to the survivors of the CA wildfires completely FREE of charge! The idea for #UpLiftCali came to life after weeks of trying to figure out how to help in a meaningful way.
As victims of natural disaster ourselves, I knew we had to do something...but WHAT? Lightbulb! After the 2016 floods in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas, my husband and lost nearly everything! We still felt like we had more than others, so we donated some items: bed sheets, towels, toiletries, etc. The donation center turned us away! As we packed up our items to leave, the volunteer saw the bras at the top of the bag and snatched them! "No one remembers to give these to us! We need more bras!" That memory served as the catalyst to this movement #UpLiftCali.
Help us build our mission! We'll give a bra to as many survivors as possible during a four day event this February! At UpLift, we help ladies look and feel their best every single day. We know exactly how transforming properly fitted undergarments can be to a person's psyche! Let's take this subliminal stress off of her shoulders and share the gift of lift! Sometimes, the simplest things make the biggest difference. She may already have the toothbrush, toothpaste, and shampoo that she needs. She may not have enough bras to get through the week. What if they don't even fit? Let's help her feel better with better support!
Can you imagine the stress of rebuilding your life? While wearing something uncomfortable? Have you ever tried working out with the wrong sports bra on? Or wear the wrong pants to work? Yeah, talk about aggravating. Take that feeling and add to it the tremendous stress of rebuilding your life, as quickly as possible, and you can begin to get in their shoes for a moment. A little comfort goes a LONG way!
NEW and GENTLY USED bras are currently being collected at UpLift Expert Bra Fitting in Baton Rouge, LA. The funds raised here will purchase missing inventory! We want to fill in the size gaps found in the donations so everyone’s size is represented. Three people will be traveling to CA. We also need to cover airfare, meals, and possibly lodging. (We are still in the planning phase of our location, which may provide lodging. Please see updates for details.) Our current goal does not include lodging costs.
UpLift will provide advertising space online for the event once the location is locked down. No extra funding needed for this part. Our tentative #UpLiftCali dates are in the middle of February. We will add updates as we get new information and links, so you can follow our progress!
